My "Pinkle" Paradise

My "Pinkle" Paradise

I have been excited about this post for a while. Because I LOVE my "pinkle" (a color name I created that perfectly blends pink and purple) paradise and want to share the magic of it with you.

This paradise, otherwise known as my fortress of solitude or happy place, is one of my favorite rooms of all time. But I can't take any credit for the design. My sweet mother is the brains behind this display of design genius, as she whipped the whole thing together for me as a surprise before I moved home last fall.

I added a few personal touches, but for the most part it's her brain child. This is one of those posts where the pictures will do most of the talking, so get comfortable and begin your tour!

Feeling tired? Stressed out? Overwhelmed? Or just down in your spirit? When I experience any or many of these emotions, my bedroom is the number one place I want to go to be alone and rest. As an internal processor, solid introvert AND someone with chronic Lyme Disease, having a safe, pleasant space all to myself is CRITICAL to the healing process. I easily get overstimulated, anxious or just exhausted by life and people. When that occurs, this bedroom is there to help me detox and unwind.

As an interior designer, my mother advocates that our aesthetic surroundings have a significant emotional and psychological impact on us. I believe that more than ever right now. This bedroom has been there for me on good and bad days and has always given me a sense of peace and comfort.

The light violet walls are my FAVORITE color and the white and grey accents pop the color so much more. The room has a perfect blend of modern geometric pattern (in the rugs and stripped floor), shabby chic (in the bedding and dresser) and Victorian accents (in the secretary and chair). The secretary used to belong to my grandmother and I LOVE using it as my personal desk. It holds what I need and is a great space to have my morning devotionals. The chair, which has a ROCOCO influence, also used to be my grandmother's and my mother had it re-covered in that gorgeous dark purple and black and grey pattern.

The only aspects of this bedroom that I can take credit for are the paper flowers hanging on the floating shelf in the corner and the white string lights. I LOVE ambiance and have wanted to have great mood lighting. Because I spend so much time resting in my room, the mood lighting makes it more cozy and is a great alternative to bright lamps when I don't want complete darkness. And the paper flowers, well, they are just a fun hobby of mine to create. I think they add a cheerful, feminine touch and they have been with me since my last apartment so they hold a sentimental value.

Overall, I really LOVE spending time in here. I am so grateful that my mother put all this together for me to enjoy while living here right now because it been such a comfortable and special place.

I hope you enjoyed getting a tour of my "pinkle" paradise! I would love to hear if anybody else has a fortress of solitude, so to speak, that they never get tired of enjoying!
