My Fall Morning Routine
Happy Fall
Happy first day of fall!!! I hope this post finds you in fine spirits, maybe even snuggled up with a hot mug of tea or hot chocolate to kick off this new harvest season. After all, this is the time to bake, take nature walks, read by the fire and queue the ambience lighting.
I have some fun ideas for fall blog content, but thought it would be fun to share an idealized version of my autumn morning routine in this post. For some reason I really love hearing about other people’s routines. Whether it’s their cleaning, cooking, morning or evening routine—I always glean new ideas from their rituals. So, feel free to walk through this morning routine with me!
My Morning Routine
But first, coffee! Where does that saying even come from? I don’t know, but it’s pretty much a mandatory first step. I am always trying out different types of coffee and lately have been on an instant coffee kick. I have usually add some sort of flavored almond or oat-based creamer no matter what.
Next I like to cozy up in either one of my robes or a cozy blanket and head outside to enjoy a few minutes of fresh air as I wait for the coffee to work its magic. Something about the early fall morning air coupled with the aromatic coffee just creates a magical experience. In these quiet few moments I like to do some deep, diaphragmatic breathing to calm my nervous system and oxygenate my brain.
After taking a few minutes to just wake up and breathe, I like to crack open either my One Year Bible or a devotional book if I have the energy for it. Sometimes my brain fog is too thick in the morning so I opt for reading a verse of the day instead. Either way, I like to take a few minutes to focus on God’s word and let that recalibrate my perspective for the day. Then I will take a few minutes to do a short prayer over my day.
Now for the fun part! I recently acquired a mini trampoline for the purpose of detoxing my lymphatic system and getting the blood flowing in a low-impact and, quite frankly, fun way. Even if I am having a rough Lyme day (which is about half the week), I still try and do at least two minutes of mild jumping. Two minutes of “rebounding” is enough to get your lymphatic system moving and detoxing, but more time is even better.
Following that, I will usually go make some oatmeal for my breakfast of champions. I almost always go for some variation of plain oats, chia seeds, peanut butter and either berries or sliced apples coupled with a dash of cinnamon and almond milk. If I want to go crazy, I might add some honey or syrup, but that’s rare. And if I’m feeling all-out adventurous, I may even go for an apple cider doughnut…….
Then I’m ready to take the rest of my medicines and get myself dressed in my outfit of the day (OOTD) which ranges from athleisure to a fully-accessorized and often feminine getup.
How About You?
Now that I’ve walked you through my picturesque, Pinterest-worthy and only slightly exaggerated morning routine, I am curious to hear about yours! Do you change things up for the seasons?
